Julia Roberts is well known for picking her roles in movies very well, and her picks of movie roles never failed to launch a thousand laughs and to cause someone’s tear to fall. She made it all the more evident in this movie “My Best Friend’s Wedding”.

She played a role of a serious well acclaimed food critic that carried on her life focused on the job she had at hand, and went on making short time love affairs that come and go as unconsciously she has always compared her on going love affairs to the love of her life, her best friend “Mike”.

And so the story goes that she had an affair with her best friend but since she was afraid of commitment at that time she let go cold turkey deciding to break his heart. But she always knew that her heart belonged to him that made her all the more scared to push through. Maybe the confidence struck on her too much that she led to believe his heart will forever be hers, and so then Mike calls announcing that he’ll be married in the weekend and was asking her to be the Maid of Honor. Surprised with what she heard, she fell from her bed.

Then the devious plan came into mind, she realize what she is about to lose that she came up with ways to win him back before he say’s “I do”.

It is the exact portrayal of not knowing what you got till it’s gone, as she considers it to be almost gone, that she grabbed the little time left to steal him away and that’s when all the craziness began.  She succeeded in breaking them apart, only to realize that her bestfriend’s heart already belonged to someone else and that is with the girl he was about to marry. As she had broken them apart, she found ways in bringing them back together in the end. Saying to the girl “You love him, I love him but he loves you, so go, marry the man of your dreams, marry the man of our dreams”.

That girl was the role where Cameron Diaz got her break as an actress, creating a fuzz in the showbiz buzz that led her to stardom. Claire Danes played a role of a rich kid who fell in love with the ordinary Mike.
