Jane (Katherine Heigl) plays a role of an idealistic, romantic and really selfless individual that helps organize weddings and formulate happy endings without having a happy ending of her own. She was so much infatuated with her boss but never really made a move until her sister came in the picture and captured the heart of her boss that made her world fall apart. She had been branded in this movie “as always-a-bridesmaid but never the bride”. She had been to weddings and organized a lot of weddings that it accumulated over 27 weddings all in all, having her closet filled with 27 dresses.
In one of the weddings, she then meets Kevin (James Marsden), a writer for the New York Journal who suddenly got tired of writing heart felt wedding articles and needed to write something to break free from this routine. When he met Jane, having seen her in weddings, made him derive a scope of a new story to spice up his column all the more. Kevin’s articles had always been admired by Jane herself leaving clipping of her favorite ones. When she finally got to meet the writer Kevin (James Marsden), all the sudden she is in doubt if he really feels all those warm, sincere, special day sentiments or he’s just a cynic writer trying to earn some doe on “romantic crap” for romantic women and the likes.
The craziness in between those scenarios began as Jane was running in two weddings at the same time. She loses her boss over her sister followed up by her boss proposing to her sister. The deceitful act of Kevin trying to catch a good story with Jane and the riot starts from there, juggled up in a funny, romantic comedy that everyone in the household can enjoy.
The movie was made by the screen writer who made The Devil Wears Prada, and was directed by Anne Fletcher. The movie is not just about a chick flick trapping, it has fashion it has spice, it has wedding chats and getting along with the one way crush dilemma makes this movie a two thumbs up. Although you wouldn’t be all that convinced why someone as good looking as Katherine Heigl would have a problem having her own love life sizzling. Even so, the role had be gracefully portrayed. Specially the part where she just had to organize her own sisters wedding where the groom is the crush of her life. Kevin played by James Marsden always has a thing for roles that he plays the other guy but this time he is the main guy to creep in Jane’s world. However, see the roughness of its evolution from “I’m irritated with you” to “I can’t live with out you” mode. The chemistry is just there, and it’ll play on your emotions all the more making you look like crazy fool as you get a bit angry then laugh after a few seconds, see yourself a bit teary at the next, and say “awww” afterwards.
