Yes, you are getting married. And just like any other girl’s dream, you want your dress to be fabulous, elegant, stylish, unique. All those words to describe the dress you are going to wear for that one special day. You want everybody to remember how your dress looks like, and how beautiful you are wearing that outfit.

You might have a special gown in your family that you could wear. One that has a sentimental value and that was worn by your mother or by your grandmother, by your aunt, or your mom’s best friend. If that is the case, there should be no problem. The amount you are to spend then is out of the question.

But if ever you really have to purchase a dress, consider not spending too much. You can always have the dress you want without being trapped on loans and credits, or zeroing your savings account. Remember, there is always a way to lessen the expenses. You just have to do your homework.

First, you will need to have an idea on the style and design of the wedding dress you like and set a budget for it. You can check out wedding magazines or go on window shopping with a friend or a close family member who could help you choose and give out suggestions. You might decide on a traditional long, accentuated gown with petticoats like that of a princess. Or, you might settle for an unadorned simple yet elegant one.

Then, search for that dress. Explore the internet for the websites where you could find great offers. Also visit the bridal shops for you to have an idea of how much their service is and so you can make comparisons. There are also stores that give out discounts, but be careful, a discounted price does not necessarily mean a better offer.

{mosimage}As an alternative, you can also visit local thrift or second-hand stores. Just have a keen eye for the good quality and the one that really fits your taste, you will only have to spend a few dollars for that dream dress. There you can find dresses that have been professionally dry-cleaned. Some have never been worn and were just donated by bridal shops.

You can also find amazing bargains in the classified ads. Wedding dresses for sale are offered at a huge discount, sometimes up to a maximum of 75%. Check also for garage sales in your area, where you may find wedding dress at a very low price. It is not very often though that you will find a wedding dress in a garage sale.

If you are not the type who would go for used clothing, you can still check out clearance sales in a department store. Some social dresses would qualify for a fashionable wedding dress.

No matter how much you plan to spend on that dress, the most important thing is that you save as much as you can without compromising your ideals. You don’t have to wear a slightly worn dress when you will not be happy with it. The idea here is that at least you save some amount that could later on be utilized for other means.
